These will be contrasted with the biblical views concerning the heart of man, habituation and rehabituation. The question of whether addiction and substance abuse are sins or sicknesses will be addressed. A process for counseling the addicted person is offered to illustrate the power of God's Word.

Understanding the Consequences of Sexual Sins Upon the Marriage Covenant - The purpose of this seminar is to acquaint the doctoral student with the hard issues concerning the consequences of sexual sins within the marriage covenant (with an emphasis on the wife as the non-offending spouse though the core principles of this course will apply to either spouse), as viewed from a biblical perspective; to introduce the student to a wide range of insights regarding sexual sins as interpreted through a biblical grid; to broaden the students awareness of the seriousness of this particular sin and how easily it destroys the family unit; to introduce the student to a wide range of biblically-based resources for those who are called to counsel individuals and families caught in the tragedy of sexual sins.

ALL SEMINAR REQUIREMENTS ARE MET AFTER SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE FIFTH DAY. NO POST SEMINAR ASSIGNMENTS REQUIRED  - Purpose: To provide the Doctor of Biblical Studies and Doctor of Ministry student an interactive faculty and peer assessment alternative to the courses, Research and Writing Course RW-700 and the Doctoral Writing Project DRP-700, through which the doctoral student will have an opportunity to present a defense of a key requisite associated with the student’s doctoral discipline. Objective: Following the successful completion of this course, the doctoral student will have demonstrated that he or she has a sufficient enough grasp of the breadth and scope of the chosen doctoral discipline that he or she is capable of presenting a cogent written and oral defense of a relevant key requisite of the discipline, and is capable of a successful defense before a body of peers under the supervision of discipline qualified faculty.
