ABOUT GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES

The purpose of the General Education requirement at Master's International School of Divinity is three-fold.  First, it is the desire of Master's to provide students with the best possible academic program.  Second, we believe that we have a responsibility to assure that Master's graduates are on an academic par with their peers graduating from other quality degree programs.  Third, even though no college, seminary or university is obligated to accept degrees earned at other institutions, the General Education requirement greatly increased the likelihood of  acceptance.  This is especially important for graduates of non-traditional institutions such as Master's International School of Divinity.  Also, this option presents a wonderful opportunity to study subjects through a system specifically designed for the older student!

Through an Institutional Partnership, CSU is the exclusive provider of the non-MISD General Education (GE) courses for the MISD undergraduate GE requirement.

Because CSU is an accredited University, courses taken through CSU as a part of the MISD program, are likely to be transferable to other colleges and universities.

IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITY:  MISD students may voluntarily elect to add any of the CSU General Education Elective Courses to their MISD degree program as a way of including diverse, interesting or helpful subjects.  The unique Institutional Partnership between Master's International School of Divinity and Columbia Southern University opens a wonderful door of opportunity for students that is not available anywhere else.  Prospective and current students are encouraged to consider the many ways in which this option may open new possibilities for enhanced learning.

MORE OPTIONS:  MISD students may also elect to take general education courses through our other University partner, California Coast University.  Like Columbia Southern University,  since CalCoast is an accredited University, courses taken through CalCoast as a part of the MISD program, are likely to be transferable to other colleges and universities.

MORE OPTIONS:  Another idea option is one that is not as well know, and often overlooked.  We recommend that MISD students also consider using the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) as a way to earn general education credits though testing.  MISD will accept CLEP credits.
